Hoarding Intervention Training

HIT program

Hoarding Intervention Training (HIT) is an in-home training for those who struggle with excessive acquiring, saving, and hoarding. HIT is available for clients to attend individually and/or with a relative seeking training on how to support the individual at their own pace.

The training is provided by a licensed occupational therapist in-home 4 hours per week and follows a curriculum to develop insight & strategies to reduce acquiring and improve discarding. Individuals acquire skills, learn and implement techniques to improve home safety. The therapist provides extensive physical assistance for sorting and organizing items. During discarding, the therapist provides comfort and support during decision making and to maintain progress.

This service is offered through Professional Rehabilitation Consultants and eligible under the HBCS waiver.
